Fiddle virtuoso Eileen Ivers is coming out with a new album next month - and two shows on March 13-14 with the Colorado Springs Philharmonic.
When Eileen was 18, she walked into a NYC music store and her eye fell upon a blue electric violin. A forward-thinking clerk set her up with it and a bunch of pedals, and blew her mind wide open. Ever since, she's been forward thinking herself, and that violin-and-pedals setup has helped her redefine what Celtic roots music is.
An undeniable part of American roots music, Celtic music has a broad base and wide-reaching branches. Eileen goes out on limbs in front of presidents, royalty, and adoring audiences all over. Her new album Scatter the Light (3/13/20) explores limbs, branches, looping, social issues, technology, the trauma of sexual assault. With all but two of the songs being originals, Eileen and her stellar band delve deep into many of her non-musical interests.
